The Organizing Committee of the 14th International Workshop on Resilient Networks Design and Modeling (RNDM 2024) is pleased to announce the winners of the RNDM 2024 Best Paper Award.
Impact of Channel Provisioning Strategies in the Transient Resiliency of SuperC+L-band Networks
Authors: João Pedro and André Souza
Award Details
About the Winning Paper
The paper addresses a critical challenge in next-generation optical transport: maintaining service continuity during transient events in ultra-wideband systems. As network operators deploy SuperC+L-band transmission to meet surging capacity demands, understanding the transient behavior of optical amplifiers becomes essential for ensuring network resilience.
The authors develop a comprehensive simulation framework to evaluate channel provisioning strategies β including power-equalized launch, pre-emphasis, and dynamic gain control β and quantify their impact on the transient survivability of optical channels. The work provides actionable insights demonstrating that strategic channel provisioning can significantly reduce service disruption during amplifier transient events.
Selection Process
The Best Paper Award was selected by the RNDM 2024 Technical Program Committee. Papers were evaluated on originality, technical quality, clarity of presentation, and potential impact. The award was presented during the closing ceremony on 27 November 2024 at the Grand Hotel Vesuvio in Pompei.
